Concrete Grinding

Concrete Grinding can be used for levelling of floors to prepare the concrete for both Mechanical Concrete Grinding and Grind and Seal services. It is also a useful levelling method for concrete, preparing it for the application of flooring over the concrete (e.g. wooden floors or tiles).

An abrasive machine is utilised in addition to the graded diamond pad which essentially smooths the concrete down. Concrete grinding is performed either wet or dry.

The advantages of wet grinding is a reduction in dust and removes the requirement for vacuums. However, cleaning of the resulting Slurry is required. Concrete must be dried before the application of any coating or overlay, which can take several days.
Advantages of grinding dry include ease of cleaning and the floor is ready for sealer application immediately. However, appropriate respirators and vacuums must be used when grinding concrete dry to ensure the safety for workers.

Why Choose Concrete Grinding?

  • Concrete grinding is essential to the preparation of flooring if the existing space has a concrete underlay. The process will ensure that the area has a consistent and smooth surface, free from inconsistent levels, dents, cracks and imperfections. It will also remove any contaminants or stains that exist on the concrete, such as paint spills, oil or dirt and discolouration.
  • The grinding process is what gives the concrete its longevity, either in preparation of application of alternative flooring or statement concrete floor.
